I attended a one day course on presenting data and information by Edward Tufte today. For me the most exciting part was walking out with 4 of his books at the end. I felt like I was back at school for a couple of hours which was funny. It was a crowded room, with rows and rows of people with Tufte’s books in front of them. Tufte said “the green book, page 157″ and we opened the page and studied, then he said “the t-shirt book page 46″ we studied that… It made me smile watching a roomful of people in Sheraton flipping through books all at once.

I wouldn’t say I learned a lot from being there (to be fair I was only there for half of the course), but I am glad I experienced it, and I am very glad that I got his books because they are beautiful.  One thing I really enjoyed was to see that the language in Tufte’s books are very true to the way he talks.
